Strong Storm System Approaching NJ
According to the National Weather Service, today and tomorrow NJ will see widespread precipitation.
Precip beginning as snow near and northwest of I-95, with a transition to all rain from south to north from early Saturday evening into Saturday night.
Generally 2-4” of snowfall expected, and ice accumulations up to 0.15” (locally higher) within the Winter Weather Advisory area.
Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall Saturday night through Sunday. Total rainfall amounts of 1-2” could lead to localized minor flooding.
A strong cold front passing offshore late Sunday will bring much colder and windy conditions. Wind gusts 45-60 mph possible Sunday night through
Monday, strongest in higher terrain and near coastal areas.
Winds could lead to
isolated power outages and trees damage.
Gale force winds Sunday night through Monday night. Low water could lead to difficult navigation around the times of low tide during this period.
The
National Weather Service predicts some snow possible late next week; lower chances for significant snow.
Still a lot of uncertainty if and where we will see significant snowfall.
