Strong Winds Cause Widespread Power Outages Across New Jersey

According to the National Weather Service, all 21 counties are under a wind advisory until 4 p.m. on Friday. Northwest gusts, according to forecasters, can reach speeds of 35 to 50 miles per hour, which could topple unsecured objects outside and topple tree limbs.

Just over 5,050 customers in the New Jersey area were without power as of 9 a.m. Approximately 4,800 FirstEnergy customers, including 2,600 residents of Morris County, are affected by the majority of these outages.

According to the NWS, strong winds can also make it challenging for buses and semi trucks to drive.

The majority of New Jersey will see highs of about 50 degrees on Friday, with the northwest region of the state seeing temperatures closer to the mid-40s. According to the most recent forecast discussion, there is also a remote possibility of evening rain showers that could turn into overnight snow.

Forecasters predict that the windy conditions will have subsided by Saturday. It will be cooler, and most places will still see gusts of up to 30 miles per hour. With highs in the 50s and 60s by Wednesday, there will also be a warmup through at least the middle of the week.
