Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in Effect for NJ. Prepare to Take Shelter if Necessary.

According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for parts of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania until 7 PM EDT. Be advised this Watch may be expanded to the remaining of our counties as needed.

This is alerting people to the possibility of frequent lightning, wind gusts as high as 75 mph, and isolated hail as big as ping pong balls.

According to the NWS, the storms are predicted to form in the afternoon and move from west to east during the evening, mostly between 4 and 10 p.m. in a line that is close to or northwest of Interstate 95 before moving east and southeast. It is anticipated that stronger storms would feature frequent cloud to ground lightning.

There is a remote chance of a tornado along the northern and middle Atlantic seaboard. It was also predicted that there would be isolated flash flooding between the Southeast and New England.

A heat advisory was also in effect for Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, Ocean, and northwest and southeast Burlington counties on Sunday until 7 p.m. Index readings as high as 103 were predicted.
