Sunday Weather Forecast: Warmer Temperatures and Possible Storms

Sunday's forecast for New Jersey will have slightly warmer temperatures and the possibility of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service predicted that Sunday would be a few degrees warmer than Saturday. "There's a chance of more storms and showers."
Cooler temperatures along the Jersey Shore will provide for another perfect beach day, with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s under sunny skies.

Cooler air will be brought in by a cold front that moves through Sunday night, and onshore flow will keep temperatures moderate.

Ahead of what could be many days of hazardous surf conditions owing to Hurricane Erin churning far offshore, Cape May and Atlantic counties are predicted to see a moderate risk of rip currents on Sunday.

Hurricane Erin, now a Category 5 storm, is expected to produce large seas by Tuesday, increasing surf risk and possibly causing some coastal flooding.

This week's highs will be in the mid-70s to low-80s, which is still a little below average.

As Hurricane Erin continues its offshore path, sea levels could reach 8 to 12 feet by Thursday. It is recommended that local forecasts be followed and that residents and visitors use caution when near coastal waterways.

The long-term prognosis is still uncertain, especially with relation to Hurricane Erin's exact path.

By the end of the week, high pressure is predicted to move in, which might result in fair and dry weather by Friday and Saturday.
