Rip Current Warnings are in Place
Two people were pulled from the water in Seaside Heights on Friday afternoon after getting caught in rip currents, according to the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol.
The two rescues happened in the afternoon, according to a post made on Facebook at around 5:30 p.m. by Seaside Heights lifeguard captain Robert Connor.
It starts after that, he wrote. "Two rescues have already occurred today. We had guards on duty performing maintenance, which was fortunate for the victims.
When there are no lifeguards on duty, the National Weather Service has issued warnings about the possibility of rip currents and has advised people to avoid the water.
According to Connor, the rescues were carried out in 58-degree water, which increases the risk of hypothermia for both the rescuers and the victims.
