More Snow is Expected Later This Week
Get your shovels ready, According to the National Weather Service, more snow is expected later this week in New Jersey.
"The next system will bring rain that will turn to snow Wednesday night into Thursday," the National Weather Service predicted Tuesday morning, "while a more severe storm could bring snow Friday night into Saturday."
Temps are predicted to be in the mid-30s on Tuesday, with wind gusts of roughly 25 mph, and slightly higher temperatures in the 40s on Wednesday. As temperatures drop, a wintry combination of rain and snow is expected for Wednesday night.
The National Weather Service predicted a rain to snow transition "should occur throughout the overnight hours Wednesday night N/W of the I-95 corridor and by approximately daybreak across the metropolitan corridor." "As colder, drier air continues to come in on N/NW winds, the snow may linger for a few hours into Thursday before stopping." With this system, total precipitation could range from a quarter to a half inch... However, expect a lot of this to happen before the rain turns to snow."
Another storm could bring more snow on Friday night and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, but it's still too early to say how much of the storm will impact offshore.
"For the Friday night/Saturday timeframe, we could be looking at a big snowstorm," says the forecaster "According to the agency. "Forecast confidence, however, remains low due to the ongoing model spread... Unless the track of the low shifts significantly N/W, which appears unlikely at this time, it should remain cold enough for whatever happens to be primarily a snow event."
