According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office charges have now been brought against two passengers in the white BMW involved in the March incident that killed a young Toms River couple at 118 mph on Route 37.

According to the Ocean County Corrections website, Ryan Rivera, 18, of Toms River, and Jake M. Beauchamp, 20, of Barnegat, have been charged with two counts of aggravated manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of aggravated assault causing bodily injury with fleeing, eluding, hindering prosecution — suppressing evidence, and obstruction.
Carlos D. Martinez, 18, is accused of driving the white BMW on Route 37 when it ran a red light at Route 166 on March 7 and struck the Toyota Camry, killing Evan Fiore, 23, and Kiley Armstrong, 21.

According to authorities, Kiley's twin sister, Krista, and Krista's boyfriend, Ryan Chapman, 19, were also seriously injured.

Judge Kenneth D. Palmer of Ocean County Superior Court heard Martinez's detention hearing Thursday afternoon, during which the allegations against Rivera and Beauchamp were disclosed.

Martinez, who turned 18 on June 28, was placed under a hold order pending trial for the crash-related offenses. On June 25, he was charged in adult court after having been prosecuted as a juvenile at first.

He is charged with 21 charges in connection with the collision that occurred after the three of them escaped from police after a 16-minute high-speed drive from Route 37 to Route 35 and back.
Carlos Diaz-Cobo, Martinez's lawyer, announced Monday that Martinez consented to have the matter handled in adult court. Since his arrest right after the collision, he has been housed at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Martinez's next court date is set for Aug. 7, Palmer said.
