Tier 2 Sex Offender Arrested for Kidnapping and Assaulting Teen Girl in Toms River
According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, a 14-year-old girl asked a registered sex offender for a ride to the local animal shelter, but he took her somewhere else and assaulted her.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on October 8, 2024, the Honorable David M. Fritch, J.S.C., ordered that Keith Hahn, 46, of Toms River, shall remained detained in the Ocean County Jail on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, Kidnapping, Luring, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all in connection with an incident that occurred in Toms River on September 29, 2024.
While walking along Route 70 in Manchester Township, the teenager told authorities she became lost. She asked a man in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee to give her a ride to the animal shelter in Toms River after he stopped and spoke with her, according to detectives.
Instead, the girl told authorities that the man, who was later found to be Hahn, had sexually assaulted. After that, he drove the girl to the Toms River
Walmart on Route 37, where she reportedly got out, ran away, and dialed Manchester police.
After detectives were able to get court-authorized search warrants for Hahn's home and vehicle, cops arrested him there.
Within a few days, the suspect was revealed to be Hahn of Parkside Avenue, who was found guilty in Ocean County of sexual assault with penetration in 1995 when he was just 17 years old.
According to the Sex Offender Internet Registry in New Jersey, Hahn "isolated and offended against his female victims" and was classified as a "moderate risk" Tier 2 sex offender.
Hahn has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his apprehension on October 1, 2024. The detention hearing was handled by Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Victoria Veni.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
