Toms River Woman Arrested for Possession of Stolen Firearms

Toms River Woman Arrested for Possession of Stolen Firearms

Police said Monday that a Toms River woman was charged with both theft and possession of weapons after they were summoned to a residence in the township on Sunday.

After the incident at her house on Westfield Drive, Britney Garbinski, 35, was charged with theft, unlawful possession of a pistol, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, and possession of an assault firearm, according to the police. According to police, they were called to the residence just before 12:30 p.m. on a complaint of an unruly individual who may have been carrying a weapon.
Following a family member's confirmation that Garbinski was present and armed, police contacted Garbinski, who acknowledged possessing multiple weapons.

According to police, she then led them to her bedroom, where the guns were located.

Police claimed they confiscated a number of high-capacity magazines, a handgun that was allegedly stolen from North Carolina, and a "assault-style" rifle.

According to police, Garbinski was detained and brought to a nearby hospital for assessment. In order to await a detention hearing, she was scheduled to be transported to the Ocean County Jail.
