A young child tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision that occurred early in the morning at the Jersey shore.

The incident took place at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Monday, along Court House-South Dennis Road in the Cape May Court House area of Middle Township.

According to police reports, a 13-year-old boy from Sewell, NJ, who was a passenger in a Honda Accord, perished in the accident. The Honda was being driven by a 55-year-old man, also from Sewell.

Investigators have stated that the 22-year-old male driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer entered the northbound lane in an attempt to overtake another vehicle when he collided with the Honda.

Both the 22-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer and the 55-year-old driver of the Honda were taken to the hospital.
