Tragic Bicycle Accident Claims Life of Toms River Man
According to Toms River Police Department, a man from Toms River died Friday night after being struck by two cars while crossing Hooper Avenue on his bicycle.
Just before 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Victor Nolasco, 56, was struck while bicycling crossed Hooper Avenue at Caudina Avenue. Lt. Ron Sermarini of Toms River said.
Alexander Colbert-Fernandez, 34, of Toms River, was driving north on Hooper in a Dodge Durango when he struck Nolasco as he was crossing the street from east to west, according to Sermarini.
A Chevy Cruze driven by Nicole Murphy, 28, of Manahawkin, struck Nolasco after he was flung from his bicycle and landed in the right lane of Hooper Avenue northbound, according to Sermarini.
After being brought to Community Medical Centerin Toms River, Nolasco passed away from his wounds.
According to Sermarini, the crash inquiry did not result in any citations.
With assistance from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit, Toms River Officer William Resetar of the Traffic Safety Unit investigated the collision.
