Tragic Collision: Motorcycle and Cyclist Involved in Fatal Accident in Ocean County
According to Manchester Police Department, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a pedal cyclist at the intersection of State Highway 37 and Commonwealth Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers located a gray bicycle lying in the intersection, missing its front fork and wheel, and a black 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle on its side in the westbound lanes, with its front wheel facing east.
The motorcyclist, identified as
20-year-old Connor L. Nolan of Manchester Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the incident.
The pedal cyclist, identified as 49-year-old Kimberly Reinschmidt of Manchester Township, sustained suspected internal injuries and lacerations to her left hand and arm. She was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling westbound in the left lane of State Highway 37 when Ms. Reinschmidt began crossing the highway from Commonwealth Boulevard within the painted crosswalk.
Manchester Police states th motorcycle struck the front of the bicycle, causing Mr. Nolan to lose control of the motorcycle. The bike then collided with the concrete center barrier dividing the eastbound and westbound lanes, ejecting Mr. Nolan from the vehicle. The motorcycle came to rest facing east in the westbound lanes, while the bicycle came to rest within the intersection.
Emergency personnel from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, members of the Ridgeway and Manchester Volunteer Fire Departments, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and Accurate Towing responded to the scene.
The roadway remained closed for several hours during the investigation.
At this time, the primary contributing factors in the crash appear to be disregard of a traffic signal and unsafe speed.
The incident remains under investigation by Patrolman Conner Yatauro and Patrolman Anthony DeBalsio of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
