Edwin Antonio Made Sanches
Tragic events occurred on Sunday at Beach Haven, Ocean County, as lifeguards formed a human chain to start looking for a swimmer who had fallen into the water.
Despite efforts by the police and EMS, a 22-year-old man was killed in the choppy waves despite the fact that two swimmers were successfully hauled to the shore.
The man, identified as Edwin Antonio Made Sanches of the Dominican Republic, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A gofundme/fundraiser for him has been set up. Contributions will help cover the expenses required to transport him to the Dominican Republic, as well as assist with the funeral costs. All additional funds will be given to his mother and father.
According to the
gofundme, Edwin was an avid reader and a young man full of dreams. He aspired to achieve so much in life, from providing for his loved ones to creating opportunities for his family to join him in the USA. Despite his young age, he carried a remarkable sense of responsibility and determination.
Police in Belmar received a complaint about some swimmers who were having trouble off the 6th Avenue Beach. They saved five swimmers. A 42-year-old male swimmer who was unresponsive was also removed from the water by authorities, and he was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
