Tragic Head-On Collision Claims Life of NJ High School Senior

According to a letter sent home to parents, a senior in high school in South Jersey died Tuesday after colliding head-on with a tractor trailer in Hopewell Township.

Tony Cattani, the principal of Lenape High School, wrote a letter on Tuesday, saying, "Our Lenape Family suffered a devastating loss today when one of our seniors was killed in an automobile accident." According to Hopewell Police Department, the collision on Route 31 in Hopewell Township between Titus Mill Road and Hopewell Pennington Roads on Tuesday afternoon seriously injured two other Lenape seniors.
Hopewell Township Police were called to a serious head-on collision between a car and a tractor trailer on Route 31 at around noon on Tuesday.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the vehicle was heading south on Route 31 when it struck the tractor trailer after it crossed over the center line into the northbound lane, according to officials.

The Honda had a driver and two passengers. According to authorities, two of the victims suffered severe injuries, and one of the occupants passed away. The three kids were friends and members of the Class of 2025, according to the letter from Tony Cattani, the principal of Lenape High School.

The collision is being investigated into by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and Hopewell Township police.
