Tragic House Fire Claims Two Lives in NJ

Two people were killed in a house fire in Pennsauken, Camden County, which is being investigated by fire officials.

The fire was responded by Pennsauken Fire Department .

"To be honest, I was really afraid," neighbor Victoria Christerer said.

Viewer footage captures the fierce flames erupting from this Pennsauken, New Jersey, residence.

Neighbor Angelica Mercado remarked, "I just remember seeing all the windows on fire, and then I just remember the fire sparking more."
Neighbors say they had finished watching fireworks on July 4th when they noticed the house on fire.

Samuel Shorter, a neighbor, stated, "There was smoke in the air from the fireworks, so by the time we walked inside you still had the aroma, and then I went inside and it got stronger and that's what prompted me come to the door and then I looked and see the flames above the tree."

Residents watched the flames in disbelief.

"I never witnessed anything like this up close, and it was just so startling because everything was okay and then the next second everything was on fire," neighbor Sophia Mercado claimed. "My heart literally sank to the floor," she said.
Neighbor Samuel Shorter remarked, "It's unfortunate that two young people lost their life. It's really sad."

The two had just moved to the area, according to the neighbors.

"It's a horrible tragic loss, that they've only lived here for a month and you just don't know what tomorrow is and what tomorrow holds you know and it's sad," neighbor Marisel Negron said, adding that "they were young, I suppose in their twenties."

The man who lived on the first floor managed to escape.
