Tragic Incident: Pedestrian Killed Outside South Jersey Hospital

Tragic Incident: Pedestrian Killed Outside South Jersey Hospital

According to investigators, a car struck and killed a patient at a South Jersey hospital Monday night in front of the medical center.

The car struck the person on the street in front of Jefferson Washington Township Hospital at approximately 8:25 p.m.

George H. West, the pedestrian, was recognized by police thanks to his Jefferson Hospital medical ID band. His age is still unknown.

After receiving CPR from the first responding officers, West was subsequently declared dead at Jefferson Hospital.

A black Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, the preliminary inquiry found. According to authorities, the motorist struck West close to Regulus Drive, which is by the hospital's parking lot entrance.

Whether the motorist stayed on the scene was not disclosed by the police.

Hurffville-Cross Keys Road was blocked for around two hours while investigators looked into the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing. Washington Township Police Officer Edward Appel can be reached at 856-589-6650 if you saw the collision or have information.
