Tragic Jersey Shore Boat Crash Claims Life of 79-Year-Old NJ Swimmer
79-Year-Old NJ Swimmer Dies
Authorities said that a 79-year-old swimmer died on Saturday after being struck by a boat off the coast of Atlantic City.
According to a New Jersey State Police spokesperson, Marine Service Bureau troopers were dispatched to the Intracoastal Waterway close to the Dorsett Avenue Bridge in Atlantic City at about 5:14 p.m.
According to a preliminary inquiry, a 20-foot Robalo watercraft in the Intracoastal Waterway injured a woman swimming near a floating dock at a home on Boulevard Avenue in Atlantic City.
According to state police, the crash caused fatal injuries to the swimmer, Norma Michaels, 79, of Ventnor.
The vessel's captain, 52-year-old Jeffrey Jastrzembski of Atlantic City, was unharmed and stayed on the scene, according to state police.
