Following a skiing accident on a black diamond trail at Jiminy Peak on Tuesday, Lincroft resident Alex Kemp passed away.

According to several media outlets and a statement from Williams College, where he was a freshman, a 19-year-old man from the Lincroft neighborhood of Middletown passed away on Monday following a ski accident in the Berkshires. Alex Kemp passed away while skiing at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, Massachusetts.

According to a local TV station, Kemp went over an embankment on the left side of the black diamond trail, which is known as the Cutter trail at Jiminy Peak.

It was reported that Kemp suffered significant head trauma and was taken to Berkshire Medical Center before being transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he died.

He was wearing a helmet, but his head injuries were too severe. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

He graduated from the prestigious Christian Brothers Academy, a Christian boys prep school also located in Lincroft, and ran cross country for CBA, helping them win a state championship in his senior year, according to this Instagram post from CBA.

Williams College had actually recruited him to run cross country for them.

Kemp concluded his college essay with the following comment, according to his college president: "Everyone needs someone to root for them and to remind them to always root for themselves."

"That was the spirit described by so many people who knew him."
