Tragic Update: NJ Teen Missing on Halloween Confirmed Dead
In an update on Thursday, Charleston Police announced that their search for a New Jersey teen who vanished in South Carolina on Halloween has been redirected to recovery activities after detectives confirmed the teen's suicide.
According to authorities,
Owen Tillman Kenney, 19, was last observed strolling by himself onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway just after three in the morning on October 31.
Detectives verified by direct observation that Kenney committed himself at 3:49 a.m. on Halloween after entering the bridge's pedestrian walkway, following an examination of previously obtained video data.
The Charleston Police Department has switched from search operations to recovery activities as a result of this discovery, according to police.
As they strive to provide closure for Kenney's family, partner agencies continue to support them.
Chief Chito Walker stated, "Owen's family has always been and will continue to be our priority." "This is a real case involving a real family going through unspeakable suffering, and we should all show them compassion, privacy, and support."
As rescue efforts progress, the Charleston authorities Department will keep the Kenney family informed and in close contact, according to the authorities.
Kenney was a member of Red Bank Catholic High School's Class of 2024, according to an internet post. He later enrolled at the College of Charleston.
