Trooper Shot on Long Island: Police Hunt for Black Dodge Charger with NJ Plates

According to the NY State Police, following the shooting of a State Trooper on Long Island, state police in New York are searching for a black Dodge Charger with temporary New Jersey tags.

The driver of a vehicle with temporary New Jersey license plates is being sought by authorities following the shooting death of a New York state policeman on Long Island.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the incident occurred along the Southern State Parkway, close to Exit 17 in West Hempstead, according to New York State Police. The Trooper who was shot is in stable condition.

The suspect escaped in a black Dodge Charger, according to officials, possibly with a temporary New Jersey license plate bearing the number 997636T. The car is said to have dual exhaust tips that are unique matte gray.

The NYSP stated that the suspect "is believed to be a dark skinned male."

As part of their investigation, New York State Police are requesting that anybody with information about the shooting or who witnessed it phone 631-756-3300.

At 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, a news briefing regarding the shooting inquiry is planned.
