Tropical Storms Franklin and Idalia Pose Threat to New Jersey This Week

Severe Storms Heading to NJ

Although it's doubtful that Franklin or Idalia would hit New Jersey, forecasters say there might be effects on the area.

This week, two storms are developing in the Atlantic Ocean, and NWS warned that Hurricane Franklin and Tropical Storm Idalia may cause high tides, severe offshore winds, and the closure of several beaches in New Jersey.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, surges from far-off Hurricane Franklin may start to approach the New Jersey coastline on Monday.

There will be a chance of showers in New Jersey on Tuesday during the day. After 9 p.m. until early Wednesday, there will also be a greater chance of thunderstorms.

The Garden State is not predicted to be hit by these powerful tropical systems, but because to their locations in the Atlantic Ocean, they may have an impact on the area a few days before the second anniversary of Tropical Depression Ida.

Along the Jersey Shore, rough surf, powerful rip currents, and floods are all likely due to the rain that is predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.
