Two Barnegat residents are facing narcotics charges after officers pulled over an aggressive motorist on New Year's Eve and discovered crack cocaine, methadone, and Xanax, according to Brick police.
Sgt. Jim Kelly said Joseph Catanzaro, 25, and Adrianna Buttacavoli, 19, were arrested near the intersection of Route 70 and Shorrock Street shortly after noon.
On Beaverson Boulevard, detectives from the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit observed an aggressive driver cutting off other motorists. When officers pulled the vehicle over near the Route 70 intersection, they discovered Buttacavoli, the driver, in possession of Xanax tablets and paraphernalia, according to Kelly.
Catanzaro was also caught with undetermined amounts of crack cocaine, methadone, and drug paraphernalia, according to him.
According to Kelly, Catanzaro lied to the investigators about his identification, and he was charged with obstructing apprehension, as well as possession of crack, methadone, and paraphernalia, and was transferred to the Ocean County Jail.
Also according to Kelly, Buttacavoli was charged with Xanax possession, paraphernalia possession, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and negligent driving, and she was released on a summons.
