Two Lives Lost: Pedestrians Identified in Toms River Tragedy
According to Toms River Police Department, two individuals who were hit and killed Tuesday night while crossing Fischer Boulevard have been identified by the authorities.
Craig Parson, 72, and
Debra Wright, 68, both of Toms River, passed away from their wounds at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
According to police, Parson and Wright were struck while attempting to cross Fischer Boulevard from east to west when they were called to the scene at 6:55 p.m., just north of Hazelwood Road.
The two were struck in the right travel lane by Sholto Roach, 18, of Toms River, who was traveling north on Fischer Boulevard at the time.
According to police, Roach received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the collision.
Fischer Boulevard was closed for roughly three hours while the incident was being investigated. There have been no citations.
With assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit, the department's Traffic Safety Unit's Officer Eric Nelson is conducting the investigation.
