Up to 2 Inches of Snow Expected in NJ: Check the Forecast
While the rest of the state will largely see rain, the northern half of New Jersey might see up to 2 inches of snow tonight and Monday morning.
Due to minor changes in the storm's path, forecasters have continued to modify their estimates of snowfall.
A more extensive region north of the I-195 corridor is expected to receive 1 to 2 inches of snow, according to the most recent National Weather Service forecast.
According to a
weather service bulletin released early Sunday, "there is a 20% possibility for quantities over 2 inches." "On Monday, precipitation peaks between 3 and 7 p.m. and then tapers off between 4 and 7 a.m."
As snow and rain combine, the amount of snowfall in places south of I-195 will rapidly decrease. According to the weather service, all rain is expected in southern New Jersey counties.
According to
AccuWeather's forecast map, the middle region of the state between I-78 and I-195 is expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, while the northern counties will receive about 1 inch.
As the storm passes offshore on Monday morning, conditions should improve by midday as the snow starts to taper off from west to east.
Temperatures are expected to be close to 40 degrees on Monday, with winds of 5 to 10 mph.
By the middle of the week, above-normal temperatures are predicted, ending the region's more than two-week-long cold snap.
From Tuesday through Friday, highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 40s and low 50s.
This week, there are two opportunities for precipitation: on Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night and on Friday.
The weather service stated that depending on the course and timing, which are yet unknown, there may be some freezing rain or snow north of I-80 with both storms. It's likely to rain in the rest of the state.
