Upcoming Weather: Snow and Rain Expected Across New Jersey
With the possibility of detectable rainfall this week, along with perhaps a few snowflakes, the Garden State may finally have some respite from the dry weather and wildfires.
Forecasters predict that the dry spell will last until Wednesday evening, when some rain is expected in New Jersey. The
National Weather Service estimates that the total amount of this widespread rain will be between half an inch and one inch.
Forecasters at AccuWeather predict that a "major storm" will develop over the Great Lakes around this time and move eastward.
According to AccuWeather experts, a cold front that is part of the storm may develop into a secondary storm, which may then combine with tropical moisture off the coast to bring some heavy rain to the region.
The National Weather Service warned of rain showers on Thursday and Friday. Even some snow showers are possible, although they will probably only affect the hilly northwest part of New Jersey.
Forecasters stated that they were "not expecting any showers to be as heavy as the rain Wednesday night, but expected dreary and blustery conditions to close out the week."
Forecasters are unsure of how this late-week storm will turn out because they are still monitoring it.
