Tornado Watch in Effect for NJ
According to the National Weather Service, a tornado watch has been issued for parts of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia until 2 PM EDT.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornado development.
Tornadoes and flooding downpours are the two main concerns when Debby's "brunt" begins Friday afternoon and evening.
There may also be some wind, choppy waves, and slight coastal flooding.
As Debby approaches from the north and combines with a stalled front, tropical moisture will be forced onshore. Rain is expected to intensify on Friday afternoon and evening as Debby moves closer, raising the risk of flooding in the northeastern United States. In the late afternoon and early evening, when heavy rain and severe weather are likely, rain and storms intensify.
