Weekend Storm Threatens NJ
According to Accuweather, forecasters warn there is still a chance of a powerful coastal storm hitting New Jersey on Sunday and Monday, bringing with it heavy rain, strong winds, and possibly some flooding.
Three days out, there's still the typical amount of uncertainty over the storm's precise route, but it's almost a given that the Garden State will see another extremely rainy Sunday.
The
National Weather Service stated in its Thursday morning prediction discussion that "rainfall amounts will depend on the track and speed of the storm, but it looks like a general 1-2 inches and this will be falling on saturated ground." "There appears to be a chance of flooding as a result, particularly if a large portion of the heavier rain falls in a shorter amount of time."
Merging storm systems expected to move up Eastern Seaboard could create a messy weekend for early holiday travelers.
The intensity factor will define how high the winds will be with the next storm, while the storm's course factor will determine how far inland the heavy rain can travel. In the majority of intensity scenarios, there will be a high likelihood of consequences from gusty winds for the shore.
Sunday's highs will reach the low 50s throughout the day and just slightly drop to the 40s at night.
