It is likely than not that a tropical storm or nor'easter will sweep up the Jersey Shore over the weekend. It will be possible to experience wind, rain, coastal flooding, and beach erosion.
The National Weather Service predicts rain and flooding this weekend, with a particular focus on heavy rains around the coasts.
According to Alex Staarmann, a meteorologist with the
National Weather Service in Mount Holly, "We are expecting a coastal storm to impact coastal New Jersey starting Friday night and lasting through most of Saturday and Saturday night into Sunday as well." Strong gusts and the risk for coastal flooding are our biggest worries.
For all of Monmouth and Ocean counties, the worst of the severe weather will occur late Friday night and throughout all of Saturday.
Wind gusts should be a little less ferocious inland but should range from 40 to 60 mph along the immediate coastline, according to Staarmann.
