Wet Snow On the Way for New Jersey as Temperatures Take a Dive

Wet Snow Expected in Parts of New Jersey as Temperatures Fall Sharply

Wet Snow on the Way to NJ

As temperatures drop 50 degrees from record highs the day before, rain and a shift to wet snow are predicted for certain areas of New Jersey on Thursday.

"Gusty winds and growing considerably colder during today with rain mixing with and shifting to some wet snow," according to the National Weather Service prediction.

South and east of the I-95 corridor have the best chance of seeing snow on Thursday afternoon, while accumulations are only predicted to be trace amounts.
Early on Thursday, the temperature was in the 60s and 70s, but it will rapidly drop over the day.

As a cold front moves away from the state, winds of up to 40 mph are anticipated, with the heaviest gusts predicted this morning.

According to the weather service, "the wind will add to the cold as temperatures fall, with windchills plunging into the high 20s to low 30s by late afternoon." "It will be between forty and fifty degrees cooler than it was yesterday afternoon."
Temperatures Drop
Thursday afternoon and early evening are predicted to see a swift end to the rain and wet snow from west to east.

By Thursday night, the most of places will be in the upper 20s.

Dry weather and temperatures closer to seasonal averages are expected on Friday.

Although Saturday will be dry as well, the weather service warned that low humidity and wind gusts of up to 30 mph might increase the risk of wildfires.
A powerful storm system will produce rain at night on Sunday, which will remain dry till Monday. The 50s to lower 60s will be the highs.
On Monday, there is a chance of thunderstorms, severe winds gusting up to 45 mph, and up to 1 inch of rain.

Before the precipitation stops on Monday night, there may be a shift to some snow.
The middle of next week will see a surge of significantly colder air, with maximum temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday reaching the upper 30s to low 40s with wind chills being in the 30s most of the time.
