Another new food chain is coming soon to Toms River. Possible plans for Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will open where the former Perkins Restaurant and Bakery on Route 37 was located. Perkins has declared bankruptcy in 2019.
According to a spokesperson, the restaurant is estimated to open in late spring or early summer. The restaurant took about a year and half to go through the approval process for a new drive-through. The building permit was awarded in November. Currently, the interior demolition is being done. Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers have more than 400 locations in 34 states, it opened its first New Jersey spot in Linden this year.
