Will Tropical Storm Ernesto Impact NJ?
The weather is fantastic for virtually the entire week! Sunshine, little humidity, and almost seasonally warm temperatures. In the north central region, scattered showers are likely this afternoon, but the majority of this week's "rain" won't arrive until the weekend.
Later on Saturday and Sunday, rain is expected again in NJ due to a lingering western front. Monday through Tuesday, Ernesto moves eastward as the front passes through.
It appears that it will stay too far out to sea, despite early models suggesting that it would approach and affect our weather.
Ernesto will still be affecting our tides despite that.
It is anticipated that the storm will bring big waves and dangerous rip currents this weekend, so swim with caution. The National Weather Service only forecasts rip currents two days out.
Ernesto's effects might resemble Debby's from last Saturday, when lifeguards at several beaches had to keep people out of the sea due to high waves.
