Winter Storm Forecast: Snow and Wintry Mix Expected in NJ on Tuesday

Winter Storm Forecast: Snow and Wintry Mix
Expected in NJ on Tuesday

On Tuesday, New Jersey may experience the first significant snowfall of the season due to a winter storm that may bring rain or a wintry mix to some areas of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, current projections indicate that while snow may change to a rain and snow mix in inland locations, a combination of snow and rain around the Jersey Shore may convert to just rain.

The weather service noted the uncertainty and stated that "the greatest potential for consequences from any snowfall accumulations will be northwest of the I-95 corridor, and especially along and north of the I-78 corridor."

The weather agency emphasized that there is a great deal of uncertainty regarding the precise path of the coastal system.

The weather service stated, "There are variations in the models regarding the actual speed, strength, and trajectory of the system." "Some models are more offshore (a colder and snowier setting), while others follow the low closer to the coast (a warmer and rainier setup)."

Since the system is still more than three days away, the National Weather Service has not yet released a snowfall forecast map for the storm.
However, according to AccuWeather's initial forecast map for Tuesday's storm, the I-95 corridor will get rain, snow, and ice in addition to 1 to 3 inches of snow in northwest New Jersey.

Another storm with a similar configuration is predicted for next weekend in AccuWeather's long-range forecast. Check your local forecast for weather conditions.
High pressure will reappear on Wednesday and Thursday due to Tuesday's storm, and below-average temperatures will persist until the end of next week.
