Winter Weather Alert: Anticipating Significant Snowfall in New Jersey
The National Weather Service's most recent forecast indicates that after a pleasant weekend, a winter weather system may move across the state, bringing with it some measurable snow for parts of New Jersey.
According to
NWS forecasters, a storm system that is predicted to impact the Garden State late Monday into Tuesday could bring seven to twelve inches of snow to several counties in New Jersey.
The most recent trends indicate that Monday night will see the start of snowfall in Carbon, Monroe, and Sussex, followed by a protracted period of snow accumulation in those locations. Chances of snow for the 24 hours ending at 7:00 p.m. Tuesdays varies widely from 1 to 13 inches.
Snowfall totals in the 4 to 6 inch range are anticipated further south, primarily from I-80 down to I-78, but "confidence is lower that there will be a prolonged period of accumulating snow in those areas," according to National Weather Service experts.
They said that there doesn't appear to be much snow down to the I-95 corridor.
Residents of New Jersey should anticipate calm weather, cloudy sky, and pleasant temperatures in the mid-50s to low-60s prior to the storm.
