Winter Weather Triggers State of Emergency in New Jersey

Governor Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency Monday evening as a storm is anticipated to hit New Jersey early Tuesday morning.

Executive Order No. 406 sets the State of Emergency over Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties.
Snow accumulation projections decreased with a Monday afternoon update by the National Weather Service, while the potential of freezing rain has increased.

The National Weather Service predicts a difficult Tuesday morning commute due to the first significant snowfall of the season. Sussex County's warning was downgraded and now joins Warren, Morris, Hunterdon and western Passaic counties under a Winter Storm Advisory.
Three to 6 inches of snow are projected for Sussex County; the other effected counties are likely to get 1 to 2 inches of snow, transitioning into rain by lunchtime, according to the National Weather Service. This might cause a thin layer of ice to form, making the roads slick.

There will be a few flakes throughout the remainder of the state, which will soon turn into rain. Impacts from the weather are not anticipated here. Check the latest forecast for the Jersey Shore.
