Woman Held Hostage at Knifepoint in New Jersey,

Following an hours-long hostage scenario in which he barricaded himself in a second-floor bedroom with a lady and threatened her with a knife, a Trenton man was taken into custody on Sunday, according to the Mercer County Sheriff.

After hours of discussions, 47-year-old Anthony Parker turned himself in to the police and was brought into custody without incident, according to Sheriff Jack Kemler's office. After being examined by medical professionals, the woman was determined to be physically unharmed.

Early on Sunday morning, Trenton police responded to a report of domestic violence in the 600 block of North Clinton Avenue. When police came, they discovered that Parker had locked himself in a bedroom with the woman, holding a knife, and would not let her go, according to the police.

Personnel from Capital Health Emergency Mental Health Services, Trenton police crisis negotiators, Trenton police EMTs, and the Mercer County Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Team arrived on the site.

According to the sheriff's office, the tactical team set up a sniper watch, emergency rescue teams, and ladder rescue teams. Parker freed the woman and turned himself in to the police after hours of talks with a crisis mediator, according to Kemler. He was arrested after being turned over to Trenton police.
