Firefighters from Erma, North Wildwood, and Wildwood initially arrived. However, upon their arrival, the fire was escalated to a full first alarm assignment, requiring the dispatch of off-duty firefighters as well as supplementary resources from the fire companies of Stone Harbor, Rio Grande, and Wildwood Crest. Fireboats from Stone Harbor and North Wildwood also arrived.

They started a "aggressive attack" on the fire, encroaching on the small shed and the dock itself.

The amount of water needed to put out the fire finally caused the boat to capsize, and as a result, a gasoline fire broke out on the foam-contained water. According to officials, the fire was brought under control in about forty minutes.

In order to provide more personnel to rotate crews, a second alarm was raised, and volunteer firefighters from Villas responded. The firefighters received rehabilitation services from Middle Township Ambulance Corps.

According to officials, additional assistance was provided by the U.S. Coast Guard, Sea Tow Cape May, New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau, Lower Township police, Wildwood police, and Sea Tow Cape May.

Four workers at the marina were treated for smoke inhalation on the spot, but they declined to go to the hospital, according to officials.

The Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office continues to investigate into the fire. Units from the Fire Department spent almost three and a half hours on the incident.
