Arrests Were Made at Check Points
According to Point Pleasant Beach police, a 73-year-old Brick Township lady was arrested on aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer on Saturday during a sobriety checkpoint.
The woman was one of four people detained during the checkpoint, which was held over the weekend in question for four hours on Saturday night and Sunday.
About 650 drivers were examined at the checkpoint on Route 35 south, according to police.
Four of the Following Arrests Were Made:
A Landing, New Jersey, resident, age 49, was charged with careless driving and operating a vehicle while intoxicated;
A 50-year-old South Carolina man from Myrtle Beach was charged with drunken driving and reckless driving;
A 74-year-old Brick man was charged with DUI, careless driving, and refusing to take a breathalyzer test and
according to police, a 73-year-old Brick lady was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Point Pleasant Beach police said all four were released with summonses and court dates in Point Pleasant Beach municipal court.
The
Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department assisted with the checkpoint, police said.
