Visit the Sensory Space on the 2nd floor of the Toms River Branch for special lighting, sounds and equipment to create a calming experience while using the Library.
The Joseph H. Vicari Sensory Space at the Toms River Branch provides a calm, relaxing atmosphere designed to relieve stress and anxiety.
The equipment within the Space is visually stimulating, tactile, soothing, and interactive.
It is a welcoming space to all members of our community.
The Joseph H. Vicari Sensory Space, in the Ocean County Library Toms River Branch exponentially expands the Library’s mission of “connecting people…building community…transforming lives.”
The space is designed to develop the senses, encourage communication and social interactions, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote calmness and well-being.
It sends a positive message to people with varying degrees of sensory processing who might feel inhibited in social environments.
