What is Expected at the Jersey Shore
Forecasters stated that while some sections of the state may have more snow and ice, others may experience rain and wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour.
A major storm may bring snow and ice to parts of New Jersey on Friday, and will potentially cause flooding and high winds in other areas, forecasters said.
Forecasters say the timing and effect of the storm across NJ depends on how air masses and areas of high and low pressure interact.
"The storm system will be a complex one where one center of low pressure will track northeastward into the Midwest and weaken from Thursday night to Friday before a secondary low pressure area forms along the mid-Atlantic coast and heads northeastward over the ocean on Friday," said AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno.
According to AccuWeather, some areas of central New Jersey may get snow and ice on Friday, and areas of the south and the Shore will experience heavy rain, with the possibility of moderate coastal flooding.
According to NWS projections, much of South Jersey may not experience any precipitation until Friday afternoon or early evening. The heaviest precipitation is forecast for Friday evening into the following morning.
