Suspect in Assault in Laundry Room May Have Hurt Other Victims

In connection with an incident that happened on December 29, 2022, in Jackson Township, Malcolm Hamilton, 26, of Lakewood, was charged on February 28, 2023, with Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault, Attempted Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, and Burglary, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

The Jackson Township Police Department sent officers to an apartment complex on December 29, 2022, in response to a report of an attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and violent assault. An investigation by the Jackson Township Police Department and the Special Victims Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office established that a female victim was attacked by an unidentified male attacker in the apartment complex's laundry room at about 4:50 p.m. The woman was transferred to the Southern Campus of Monmouth Medical Center in Lakewood, where she received medical attention for her wounds before being released.

Hamilton was a suspect after a thorough investigation by the Jackson Township Police Department and the Special Victims Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Detectives discovered a second victim over the course of the investigation, charged him with stalking, three counts of burglary, and two charges of credit card theft. On February 23, 2023, Hamilton was apprehended without incident and detained in the Ocean County Jail for a detention hearing.

The attempted aggravated sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and burglary that took place in Jackson Township on December 29, 2022, were all in reality Hamilton's act, according to further research. Hamilton received notice of the aforementioned allegations at the Ocean County courthouse on February 28, 2023 and currently awaits a detention hearing.
