According to Brick Police, a Toms River man has been charged with burglary after the homeowner's security camera caught him breaking into an Old Toms River Road residence on Wednesday.
Steven A. Borriello, 35, of Toms River, is being detained in the
Ocean County Jail on charges of burglary, illegal possession of a weapon, theft, and criminal mischief.
According to Patrol Officer Victoria Finelli, the homeowner called the police about noon on Wednesday to report the break-in.
An off-duty police officer reported finding a weapon on a neighboring street as cops were responding to the break-in, Finelli said.
Authorities eventually discovered that the firearm had been taken during the burglary from the residence and later thrown away by the intruder, according to Finelli.
Detective Ryan Talty, who was dispatched in response to the homeowner's description of the suspect, located and detained the man, eventually identified as Borriello, she said.
