Two Bank Robberies in Toms River Under Investigation

Two Arrests Have Been Made

According to Toms River Police, two Barnegat teenagers have been charged after a man was assaulted in a restaurant bathroom and had his car stolen.

According to Jillian Messina, a public relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, the 25-year-old victim reported that he was being attacked by two individuals while washing his hands in the washroom shortly after 2 a.m. on September 17.

After being treated at Community Medical Center in Toms River, the victim's automobile was discovered by Barnegat Township Police in Barnegat, according to Messina.

The man was transferred to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment, and in the meanwhile, Barnegat Township police located his automobile in Barnegat, according to Messina.

The investigation led to the arrest of Michael Fischkelta, 18 of Barnegat, and a 17-year-old male from Barnegat, she said.

After being charged with robbery, simple assault, and theft, Fischkelta was taken to the Ocean County Jail; however, he was eventually released while awaiting trial. After the juvenile complaints for theft, aggravated assault, and robbery were approved, the 17-year-old was processed and released. She claimed that all charges had been authorized by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
