Small Plane Theft Ends in Crash at Jersey Shore

According to New Jersey State Police, a man from Point Pleasant who informed police he crashed an aircraft was taken into custody on Wednesday on a number of counts, including theft of the aircraft.

According to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, 42-year-old Robert Wagner is being held in the Atlantic County jail on accusations of theft, obstruction, and burglary.

According to Lebron, state troopers were called to Corbin City at approximately 8:55 a.m. regarding a suspicious male who was leaving the woods. West of Somers Point, in the community of Corbin City, which has a population of approximately 500, state police respond to emergency calls.

When troopers discovered the man, he was strolling along Route 50 close to Main Street. He informed them that he had crashed his plane in a neighboring grass field. According to Lebron, the man was arrested and charged with obstruction when he refused to provide his identity.

According to Lebron, state police discovered during their investigation that Wagner, the guy in question, had been taken into custody by the Pemberton Police Department and was wanted in relation to the Tuesday theft of a Quad City Ultralight Challenger 2 aircraft from Pemberton Airport.

Lebron stated that the registration of the aircraft that crashed close to Corbin City's Main Street matched the information provided by Pemberton police.

According to him, officials connected Wagner to two burglaries that occurred in Corbin City as the inquiry went on. Wagner admitted to the burglaries and the stolen aircraft when detectives questioned him, according to Lebron.

Criminal mischief, burglary, trespassing, theft, receiving stolen items, obstruction, and impeding are the charges against him.

Lebron stated that the investigation is still ongoing.
