Sunday is expected to be the main day of impact as Isaias’ remnants move through the region, bringing moderate to locally heavy rainfall from the morning hours through Sunday night.
East-southeast winds are forecast to strengthen to 10 to 20 mph on Sunday, with gusts reaching 30 mph in some areas and potentially up to 40 mph along the immediate coast.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 50s to 60s throughout Sunday.
The
National Weather Service has placed South Jersey under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms, with the primary threats being a brief, weak tornado or damaging wind gusts.
Significant flooding is not expected, although isolated minor flooding could occur in urban areas and locations with poor drainage. Water may also accumulate on roadways.
If the heaviest rainfall shifts northward into northern New Jersey, water levels in the Raritan River basin, particularly along the Millstone River, could approach minor flood stage, according to forecasters.
Minor, isolated tidal flooding is also possible Sunday morning during high tide in Cape May and Cumberland counties.
