Tornado Warning for Northern Sections of Ocean County

Troopers Rescue Dog from Tidal Waters in Elizabeth On Saturday, July 6, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Trooper I Michael Buchell and Trooper I Shane McClafferty from Carteret Station responded to a report of a distressed dog in the Arthur Kill in Elizabeth, Union County. While patrolling near the Elizabeth Marina, they observed unusual movement in the water. They discovered a small dog, believed to be about one year old, struggling against the strong tidal current.

Tornado Warning for Northern Sections of Ocean County

Tornado warning issued in Ocean, Monmouth counties in New Jersey

tornado warning has been issued for Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

This includes northern Ocean County and southwestern Monmouth County. Northeastern Burlington County is also at risk.

The tornado warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m. and was located over Browns Mills, moving northeast at 30 mph with radar-indicated rotation.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter, and mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 

Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all New Jersey counties until 9 p.m. tonight, with hail and damaging winds expected.
