Accidental House Fire Results in Death of 65-Year-Old Ocean County Resident

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor Office, on July 9, 2025, at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Manchester Township Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Panda Lane. During the primary search of the residence, the body of a deceased male, later identified as the homeowner, Michael Seaman, 65, was discovered.
A thorough and extensive investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Manchester Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, revealed that the origin of the fire was a mattress in the southwest corner bedroom.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature due to careless smoking.

On July 10, 2025, the Ocean County Medical Examiner performed a post-mortem examination of Mr. Seaman. The Medical Examiner ruled Mr. Seaman’s cause of death to be smoke inhalation, and the manner of death to be accidental.
