Mild Forecast Ahead, with Colder Weather on the Horizon

Temperatures are expected to be above average during the first half of the week, but a strong cold front moving through on Friday will bring a noticeable cooldown heading into the weekend.

The start of the new work and school week looks relatively quiet, with temperatures running warmer than normal for this time of year. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to reach the 70s, with some areas approaching 80 degrees.

There is a slight chance of a few scattered showers late Wednesday, mainly during the evening hours. The system will usher in cooler air, bringing temperatures back to seasonal levels, with highs in the upper 60s on Thursday.

The biggest impact of this system will be the much colder air sweeping in from upstate New York and Canada. Temperatures will drop enough to bring the season’s first snow showers to the Catskills, Adirondacks, and the Green and White Mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire, especially at higher elevations.

Snow is not expected to reach New Jersey at this point, but gusty winds and falling temperatures will make it feel more like winter across the state. Check the latest weather forecast in your area.
