Two Women Die After Vehicle is Swept Away by
New Jersey Floods

According to city officials, two people lost their lives when their car was washed into rushing floodwaters in Plainfield following Monday night's intense storms.

According to a city spokeswoman, the car was dragged into Cedar Brook near Stelle Avenue after being submerged at approximately 8 p.m.
"They both live in Plainfield," said Mayor Adrian Mapp.

These are the third and fourth fatalities brought on by the city's strong storms this month.

On July 3, a fallen tree struck an automobile on Myrtle Avenue in Plainfield, killing two individuals.
As slow-moving thunderstorms pounded the state on Monday night, dozens of water rescues took place throughout the state. Rainfall reaching up to 6.5 inches in a brief period of time.
