Husband Charged in the Murder of His Wife in South Toms River

According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, a man from South Toms River has been charged with the March murder of his wife.

In connection with the death of his wife, Cheyanne Juarez, 30, on March 8, Gustavo Juarez-Perez, 38, was charged on Wednesday with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
According to authorities, Cheyanne Juarez was discovered unconscious on the floor of a house on Hummel Drive with a belt around her neck and blood on her face after police were summoned to the scene at approximately 9:15 p.m. on March 8. Despite efforts to save her life, she passed away at the site.

In the case's probable cause affidavit, Gustavo Juarez-Perez informed the operator, "I killed my wife," when he called 911. According to the paper, the dispatcher responded, "No, she is dead," when he asked if she was conscious.

He continued by telling the dispatcher that he had struck Cheyanne and strangled her with his belt.

He said that Cheyanne had cheated on him several times and had admitted to it. "I lose control," he stated. "I lost control because I was so upset."
At the residence, Gustavo Juarez-Perez was taken into custody. Since that evening, he has been detained at the Ocean County Jail. Records from Ocean County Corrections show that Juarez-Perez also has an immigration detainer.
