Heartbreaking Loss: 14 Year-Old Drowns in Ramapo Lake In

According to state officials, a 14-year-old boy drowned in Oakland's Ramapo Lake on Saturday. According to Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Caryn Shinske, the teen was discovered in the lake at approximately 1:02 p.m. on Saturday after the Park Police in Ramapo Mountain State Forest responded to a complaint of a probable drowning.
She said he was declared deceased at the scene. The family of the victim has been informed.

The formal cause of death will be decided by the Northeast Regional Medical Examiner's Office, she stated.

Shinske stated that the primary investigating agency is the New Jersey State Park Police.
